A Golfing We Will Go
On Sunday evening, we went with some friends and took the kids miniature golfing (first golf experience for Dylan and his friend, Nolan). The dad's were about as excited as the kids. The course had 9 holes and the boys probably could have played longer.
Then we went to a tasty little local Mexican restaurant for dinner together and I think I had the best burrito of my life.
The kids were tired and a little squirrely, but it turned out to be a very fun evening.
I'm already itching to go again.
(Notice how much Dylan and Addie adore each other? I love how she studies him while he goofs around, snuggling and singing to her).

Busy Saturday
This past Saturday was a busy one for our family. It started with Dylan's last sports class (9-945am) with Coach Andy and the plethora of other
Then we headed across town for Ricky's 3rd birthday party (10-noon), which I must say was a hit all the way around. I think the dads had as much fun as the kids with fooseball tables, air hockey, and basketball games. I was content sitting with my friends over by the food area with all the pizza, sodas, chips, and cake! (Hey, I'm supposed to be off my feet, right?)Then we came home for naptime (which despite the past couple weeks of NO NAPS FOR DYLAN, we were blessed with one!)
Then we headed out again for a dinner get-together with Ryan's lab at his boss's house for a few hours (430-730pm).Dylan and his friend, Adal, played together nicely with some cars/dumptrucks for a couple hours on the side of the house while the adults visited and I ate some more yummy food. (come on, I'm eating for two, remember?!?)
Then the boys finished off the evening with some refreshing sippy cups with 'cozies' like the adults. Cheers!Sunday, June 01, 2008
Sports!
For the past 6 weeks, Dylan has been enrolled in a sports blitz class amongst about 30 or so other toddlers between the ages of 2-3 years old. At first he refused to do the class, agreeing only to go to the nearby playground or watch the other kids play from the safety of Daddy's arms.
But then we finally figured out a routine that prepared him for his Saturday morning classes: practice in our front courtyard with daddy on Friday nights. And from then on, he participated and all were happy.
Here he is during the 'soccer' portion of the class.
Waiting to field the next ball.
Taking a swing...
then running the bases! (he seemed to like the baseball portion of the class the best)The session is over now and while at first I thought it was going to be a waste of our money when he refused to participate at all in the second class, it turned out to be a great experience for our family. Now what will we do with ourselves on Saturday mornings for the rest of the summer?
Wait! I know. How about a new baby?

Kick, Kick, Kick
Dylan took swim lessons the past two weeks with his best friend, Rocco. The first day consisted of him clinging to me like we were surrounded by sharks, declaring "all done" throughout. That night the three of us piled along our bed, stretched our arms out and practiced our "kicking" - which seemed to help Dylan grasp what the goal of swimming was. The next day he narrated the entire class with "kick, kick, kick, kick" as he and I puttered around the pool with kickboards, pool noodles, and the like. All in all it was a successful swim class experience for us, minus a few days he declared "all done" following attempts to get him to float on his back.
And on the last day he even went underwater with a round of Ring Around the Rosie, which was an accomplishment!

Dodger Game
A friend of ours works for a company that has LA Dodger Season Tickets with Club Level seating and offered them to us for today, as his wife was scheduled for delivery of their baby this morning (congrats guys!) and obviously wasn't going to use them himself...So, we went to the LA Dodger game today (and enjoyed some swank seats to boot!)
It was Dylan's first baseball game. We arrived about 30 minutes before the game began and as soon as Dylan finished his first round of snacks, he waived his hands and declared "All Done" like it was time to go. To be honest, I was nervous about how we'd manage through the rest of the game. But we actually made it through the 8th inning before heading home (all in all, he lasted a good 3 hours!)
Our friend Kathy joined us for the event and probably kept both Ryan and I sane as we tag-teamed to the bathroom, getting snacks, and taking Dylan for little "walks" to buy more time watching the actual game. She even trucked up and down the stairs with me on my pilgrimage for some snacks I spotted some neighbors enjoying. Our snacks were fabulous, our seats were in the SHADE, and the Dodgers won.It was a good day.
